Arresting someone you know is not guilty or you lack the evidence to prove guilt?

You have a dead body. You know who did it. You have the gun.

As I said on the first page of this thread, people get arrested every day for much less.

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you, that a fine upstanding group like the Black Panthers would advocate for the violent death of someone who doesn't happen to be black.

    I don't know why I'm bothering, but ...

Hispanic is an ethnicity, not a race. One can be a white or black Hispanic, just as one can be a white or black Englishman. I agree it is an unusual identifier by the Times, and it makes me wonder if Zimmerman ever considered himself Hispanic prior to recent unpleasant circumstances.

A black kid walking with a hoodie and a pack of skittles. I guess he was a threat to Zimmerman....if he's a diabetic.

Interesting piece from a couple of years ago about the increase in 'justifiable homicide' following the passage of 'Stand Your Ground' in Florida.

To me the most stunning parts of this whole sad event
    1. The police made no attempt to locate Martin's family after shooting.
    2. The family made no attempt to find Martin until the next day
    3. That Martin's girlfriend was not alarmed enough to check on
    his whereabouts

    2. His father thought Trayvon was with an adult relative.

    3. The girlfriend is back in Miami, and we still don't know what she did or didn't do.

What difference does any of that irrelevant stuff make? None. The incident shouldn't have happened. If the roles were reversed and it was a young white kid whit a hoodie and a pack of skittles shot and killed by a Black man, there would be a major uproar. The Glenn Becks and Nacy Graces of the world "would be crying out out for justice."

You're right, the incident should not happen, but what happened in the aftermath showed a certain callousness on part of Sanford PD.

We're likely to find that it wasn't just callousness or even incompetence on the part of the Sanford PD, but collusion.

collusion. racism. Is there a difference?
