Law enforcement sources, per the Orlando Sentinel reporter who wrote it.

Which law enforcement sources? Miami? Sanford PD? School district?

I did read the article, but given the conflicting reports on Zimmerman story, who knows. I will say that the reporting was certainly more detailed and timely. Obviously they can't say but it would be interesting to know the race of parties involved.

It again puts the spotlight on the stand your ground law which might need some reevaluation.

Interesting that we're spending so much time channeling impressions of this kid and so little time reporting what happened.

The reporting started out bad and is getting worse as everyone attempts to play catch up.

Given that it was first reported that Martin was serving an illogical suspension due to excessive tardiness, it makes sense for the true story to be written whether it seems like a character attack or not. We really do not know much about Zimmerman either but much of what has been reported are of the nature of character flaws. Initially it was reported that Zimmerman made 50 calls to the Sanford PD in the past 3 months. We now find out that it was 50 calls in the last 11 years.

A missing piece so far seems to be medical reports on Zimmerman's condition after incident. Was he treated for his injuries? Are there police photos? Is there an x ray of his alleged broken nose?

I haven't read this thread, but I have a feeling that Zimmerman is going to walk because of that Florida stand your ground law, and we're going to have Rodney King level riots when that happens.

I doubt that. The King riots were sparked in no small part because of the video that was captured and the fact that it was a bunch of racist white cops beating a black man in the inner city, something that wasn't all that uncommon, unfortunately.

There's no video of this incident and it wasn't the cops who shot him.

The first story on event from The Miami Herald appeared on March 2. Clearly fact checking is not the writers forte:

Miami teen shot dead while visiting family in Central Florida

    By Monique O. Madan
    mmadan@MiamiHerald.com

A Miami teenager visiting family in Central Florida is coming home in a casket.

Trayvon Martin, 17, was visiting family members in Sanford when he was shot to death by a man at a convenience store on Monday night.

The teen walked into the store to buy ice cream and Skittles. He had $22 in his pocket.

About 100 feet from the building, Martin was confronted by an armed man who shot him dead, said his uncle Ronald Fulton, who lived with the teen. There were no witnesses.

Sanford police identified the suspect as George Zimmerman, 25. He has been questioned, but no charges have been filed nor an arrest made.

Martin’s viewing was Friday night in South Florida.

We seem to be getting lots of "information" about George Zimmerman's "broken nose" and "bloodied head" in order to corroborate his version of things. Where's the evidence? And what condition was Trayvon Martin in? Where are those photos?

I wonder what Reginald Denny thinks?
