A sincere question: Zimmerman's story checks out and he's justified, but Trayvon Martin had a responsibility to retreat from someone exhibiting threatening behavior? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that seems a tiny bit contradictory.

It seems if you want to kill someone legally in Florida (and other states) you can bump into their car at a stoplight and hope they come charging out of their car all angry looking.

Pop a few caps into them and claim you were holding your ground from what appeared to be a dangerous threat.

Did I miss anything? I was out skulking around the neighborhood.

In your neighborhood, you'd better skulk.

I wasn't aware Jeb Bush was there to see what had happened.

That's nice of him to straighten this out for us.

In dre's neighborhood, the Neighborhood Watch alerts you if the police cruise by.

Is the part of the story in which George Zimmerman follows Trayvon Martin in dispute?

That's the thing -- even if this is the scenario:

    1. Zimmerman follows Martin in his car
    2. Zimmerman, who is not a cop and doesn't identify himself as one, accosts Martin to ask him what the hell he's doing (or to stop)
    3. Martin runs
    4. Zimmerman tracks him down and stops him
    5. Martin responds by beating the hell out of Zimmerman and trying to grab the gun he sees Zimmerman holding
    6. Zimmerman responds by shooting Martin

...then, possibly, under Florida law, NOBODY DID ANYTHING WRONG.

He can't, but he can play a mean piano concerto.

At least Bush isn't a total homer and has some humanity. He distilled it down correctly.
