It's a really interesting question. I'm inclined to think the shooting would have been swept away much easier back in an earlier era -- Zimmerman never gets charged and there's nothing to trigger to public outcry.

There is certainly a chance, though, that a stronger newspaper presence could have made the difference. And yes, it would be nice to lose all the peripheral bullshit that comes with it now -- the fake photos, etc.

Sort of noteworthy that this latest spate of information about what happened is coming from "authorities" or "sources." Has anyone seen an on-the-record interview with the cops?

Sadly, that's the nature of social media. The mistake is twice around the world before the truth can get its, um, shoes on, to paraphrase Twain.

Did you see the video? Dozens of them still ran through the damn place acting like idiots.

Where is the video? It isn't on the link you provided.

In any case ... oh noes! High school students act like idiots! Were they running with scissors too? Lord, if I got arrested every time I acted like an idiot in a public place ...

Your race-baiting fails here. Unless maybe they took the Skittles. Then it would be OK to shoot them dead.

    "Roughly $150 damage."

    $150!

The video might not have been on that link but it's all over the web. The school principal admitted that 80-100 students ran through the store. So 1. They were skipping school, 2. around 100 of them went running around a small drug store. The amount of the damage is beside the point. Idiots, pure and simple, and they're not helping the Trayvon Martin cause.
PS: Not race-baiting. Show me the evidence, and not just because you say so.
