Sure, maybe Martin could have avoided confrontation. I'm personally unfamiliar with the crime scene and whether he was cornered or could have run away to escape from the person who was hunting tracking stalking following him with a gun.

One thing of which I'm pretty certain: Zimmerman could have easily avoided a confrontation by choosing not to follow him in the first place or, failing that, by heeding the advice given him by the police dispatcher.

He was shot at close range. Zimmerman doesn't have a history of executions.

I'd like to think that if I was walking home in the rain from a skittles run, I could convince the "neighborhood watch captain" to not shoot me.

I'm not saying Zimmerman was justified. I don't know.

But, I've talked myself out of getting my ass kicked several times -- usually after I've mouthed off, and decided it was a bad idea, and didn't want to get my ass kicked.

Something happened between these two. What it was, we still don't know. And, unless it can be proven that Zimmerman acted in a way other than self defense, he's likely to remain free.

This may be true. Probably is.

On any given night, lots of people are looking for a confrontation. You don't have to give it to them.

Based entirely on George Zimmerman's father's story, you seem convinced that Trayvon Martin got himself killed.

The whole thing basically is about a guy who got his ass kicked and killed the guy who did it, claiming self defense.
    THROW ZIMMERMAN IN JAIL NOW!!!!

    "You're gonna die tonight!"

Oh, bullshit. Seriously... does that ring true to anyone (you know, not appearing as an extra in a cheesy action flick from the 1970)?

I know the law. I'm not a lawyer and neither are you. From what I've read, I feel this guy should should be in jail.
If the situation was reversed, Martin would be in jail or worse.

No. It's just that in most cases it does, "take two to tango."

I don't think he, "got himself killed." But, if he had acted differently, he may have avoided getting killed.

You know, there are a lot of things that could have happened that night that we don't know. An indictment and possibly a trial would be helpful in sorting that out. And if you are the prosecutor, at least let a judge tell you there isn't a case, instead of unilaterally walking away from what all acknowledge as a tangled set of facts.

I don't need to be a lawyer to understand that 'Stand Your Ground' and its confusions are the reason Zimmerman hasn't been arrested yet.

I will refrain from characterizing your all caps posts on the matter.

You have no idea how he acted.
