It was not an NRO column. It was for another site. They fired him because, they say, he was using his association with them to give him more cred. It's a close call, but the slavery-esque ending was probably the most offensive:

The NR has gradually replaced its old-guard racists with impotent, bloated fart-knockers like Jonah Goldberg, but it's still the same old crap.

I agree the ending was the most offensive part of a shockingly terrible "column." Apparently, he had a long, well-documented history of racist rantings.

A white guy driving a white pick-up in a city in Oklahoma.

Yeah, that really narrows down the suspect list...

It didn't run in NR or on their website.

So why would NR fire him then?

Should they not have in your view?

I guess it depends. Did he have permission from NR to write for the other publication? Did NR provide guidelines for what should be written. As bad as it was, it just seems like one does not have to do with the other. Jones better hope that ESPN does not think like NR.

Some interesting analysis by The Atlantic. Check out the NR demographics. If they don't get some younger subscribers they will be out of business in a few years.

Eh, they'll still be propped up via wingnut welfare think tanks and the like. Same as usual.

Because the special prosecutor said she doesn't need one.

"Corey said the investigation into the case continues. The state attorney has maintained that a grand jury is not needed to file possible criminal charges against George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer who killed the teen February 26."
