She is of course referring to this statement, which is quite famous:

"The central question that emerges–and it is not a parliamentary question or a question that is answered by merely consulting a catalog of the rights of American citizens, born Equal–is whether the White community in the South is entitled to take such measures as are necessary to prevail, politically and culturally, in areas in which it does not predominate numerically? The sobering answer is Yes–the White community is so entitled because, for the time being, it is the advanced race."

She also notes his apology for and eventual repudiation of this position.

Yeah, I guess there wasn't room in an on-line column to back up her claims with the actual quote, or additional evidence to further her claim.

Buckley would be 87 years old today. The quote is 57 years old. (And was written in an editorial, not under his own name -- though to be fair, Buckley's opinion and NR's -- especially then -- were essentially one in the same.)

But, to use one reference to a long ago statement, that was apologized for, as the sole basis for your claim is, is a very poor way to make a claim of racism.

    This is her premise:

He and his magazine defended segregation and white supremacy in the South (though he later apologized), while in the North, he played a leading role in making the issue of rising crime both racial and political – with arguments and tactics still being used in the Trayvon Martin case today.

    She supports her premise.

George Zimmerman's attorney hold press conference . . . to announce they are no longer George Zimmerman's attorneys.

Wonder what pushed them over the edge? The web site? Snuggling up with the Koran burning guy?

HuffPost tweeted that Zimmerman talked off the record to Sean Hannity and wouldn't tell the lawyers what was said.

This case gets weirder, even when you think it can't get any more weird.

George Zimmerman is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I've ever known in my life.

But he is not quietly effective.

They are still covered by confidentiality and privilege. Don't know I would be saying some of the things they said at that pc.

    Edit:

    Hey, Toobin agrees with me!
