It's how the Kobe Bryant case was dropped.

Does this mean Winston will buy Jimbo Fisher a $4 million diamond ring?

Yep, that'd explain the decision not to pursue the case.

Too late to do anything regarding Winston, but I hope that detective pays with at least his pension. Jesus. That's a speech straight out of "The Program."

I didn't see any quotes from detective Angulo in there, did I read too quickly? In the newspapers, charges against a cop carry credibility. With juries and prosecutors, not so much. Not saying it isn't true, just noting that the law, as opposed to us, gives cops the benefit of the doubt in a word vs. word situation.

Holy shit. I mean, that's just about every bad stereotype about college sports. I mean, this would be cliche as a movie script.

Greg Dent, who is facing second degree rape charges and has been kicked off the team has to be wondering why he didn't get the coverup treatment from the Tallahassee cops.

I know its an attorney, but the victim's attorney is the quote and the one who was on the receiving end of the the detective's comments, not the victim.

Saying something to the attorney of that magnitude? Plain stupid. An attorney has more credibility than the victim (I know hard to believe, but true) because he/she is an officer of the court and someone who's license is on the line for committing perjury; in addition, they are less likely to lie than the victim. (Most times, when people think that the attorney is lying, its because the attorney is repeating what someone else tells them so people get in their mind that the quote was made by the attorney.) An attorney is likely to listen very carefully as well.

Looking at the facts and timeline, it certainly looks, talks, and smells like a stereotypical coverup.

The comments could have been the detective's way of making sure the victim wanted to go through with it. I don't think they were threatening words, but words to the affect of "make sure you're ready for the heat if you do this."
And by the way, no one knew Winston was going to be this high-profile at the time. When this was going down, the quarterback battle going into spring was going to be between Clint Trickett and Jacob Coker.

Also, ask anyone who's lived in Tallahassee and follows FSU (or is in the media). The Tallahassee cops do not show favoritism to FSU football players. If anything, it's over the top the other way. Ask Greg Dent, Greg Reid, James Wilder Jr. or Jermaine Thomas if they got preferential treatment. It's not the type of college town where the head coach gets the first phone call after an arrest.

Jameis Winston was the No. 1 QB recruit in the country as a high school senior, so the argument he wasn't the heir apparent with the Seminoles is invalid.
