He is not seeking reelection so there won't be any career consequences for him.

Is he retiring to an island in the Caribbean or planning on re-entering private practice? If the latter, he'd be well-advised to move to Gainesville if he charges Winston and then fails to convict.

I suspect that's how this will play out sometime in January.

Unless there is other information that hasn't been made public, it strikes me as a hard case to get a conviction. When it comes down to "he said/she said", what do you have to go on?

Wonder if Mark Wingardner (make that FSU English professor Mark Winegardner) would like a mulligan on this puff piece?

That's the tone of 90 percent of sports features. I've written hundreds myself. Wrote one last week. It's so tedious, and it especially occurs at the prep and college level. Other than a Manziel who is actually interesting, this is why I prefer to just watch these days and not read.

Reading your published work would be cruel and unusual punishment.

You wouldn't be able to handle it. It's too awesome. You would faint.

Readers want bread and circuses. A sports writer's job is to promote the circuses. Its not the writer's fault if the performer fails to live up to his billing.

A decision is not likely to come until after the ACC title game (and the final BCS vote), per CBSSports.com:

And if he were a basketball star, it would be pushed to post-NCAA tournament.
