    Fuck John Lynch.

Actually, I'm pretty sure lots of young players need a moment like that. Sounds like Cutler deserved the wake-up call. Maybe somebody on the Titans should have done that to Vince Young.

I liked it because it wasn't just, "Jay Cutler is difficult with the media." He found some anecdotes that illustrated that Cutler is also aloof with people who are actually important.

Are you suggesting I yell "KELLY CLARKSON" every time he throws a pick Sunday?

Yeah, I hadn't heard those stories so I liked it for that.

This might sound strange, but we read so many jocksniffer pieces these days that reading a column ripping a player was kind of refreshing.

I guess SOMEBODY'S got to take the other side here (We simply can't allow an SJ thread with all in agreement).

The Cutler bashing seems over the top to me. In fact, the unabashed media disdain for Cutler, along with his couldn't-care-less attitude toward it, is starting to make me like the guy. No doubt he puts on an awful public front (and doesn't seem to give a shit what others think of him), but to my knowledge he's never committed serious crimes or done anything meant to harm others. In fact he's actually one of the league's more charitable players off the field and, as Reily notes, seeks no publicity for it.

As far as I can tell, the Cutler hatred is based on really crappy social skills, pouty facial expressions and being a gawdawful interview. Is that really enough to be "most hated player in the NFL"? You know sometimes the beloved players with happy demeanors and great social skills turn out to be the true scoundrels (see O.J. Simpson). The public front often ain't the actual person.

Or is there something else about the guy I'm missing?

It's not just his personality. It's also the fact he has a ton of physical talent and is merely a good QB. And he's at the position where people want to see the All-American Winner.
