Should it be, "We wish Jay well and will miss him; not personally, of course, but in the sense of noticing he is no longer here, at least for a few days." ?

jim-dashes ruin the sentence in this case.

    Just sayin' ... .

I know. What's the over-under on how long he keeps his mouth shut?

Let me spare you the wait. He'll smirk and say it's a classless statement from the people who just lost the only decent column in the city.

Apparently, word came down yesterday the Sun-Times plans another round of across-the-board cuts.

That does speak to Mariotti's treatment of his former colleagues at the S-T.

But doesn't it also speak kinda poorly of the editor? Make no mistake, if we're correctly informed that Mariotti circumvented the editor in submitting his resignation, he's righted to feel some resentment. But this could also be a serious cheap shot to actually print it.

So we know Mariotti isn't always awash with class. Why sink to his level? Regardless, I can't wait for the public spitfest.

He sunk to his level with elan!
A cheap shot would be: Fuck him.
    This guy did it right.

Elan with the wrong punctuation, dammit!

jim-dashes are being abused by writers these days.

Yeah, I know it's already been quoted several times -- but damn, that made me laugh.
    (Sorry about the dash, Du.)
