Now why do you have to bring foreigners into this? I was talking to you like I would Jim Ignatowski. He's an American.

It's not up to any one of us. It's up to the society as a whole to draw that line.

If you don't like it, change society. Get laws changed. Join PETA. But don't try to take the moral high ground in defense of Vick.

Exactly, Inky. Don't like deer hunting being legal while killing dogs isn't? Talk to your local lawmakers.

    That don't work.

Besides... I'm talking about the court of PUBLIC opinion.

    You jokers.

Not a word of protest about other animals.

Oh, you've tried contacting your local lawmakers?

This society has determined it's OK to kill certain animals in certain ways. Society has determined dogfighting is a felony. If you have a problem with it, change how society views things.

    Simon,

You make a point. There is a bit of hypocrisy, but by and large the difference is the way the animal is killed. Or, at least, the intent.

This is from a TNR.com interview with Peter Singer, an animal rights activist.

Basketball player Stephon Marbury was widely criticized for telling reporters, "We don't say anything about people who shoot deer or shoot other animals. You know, from what I hear, dog fighting is a sport." Do you think his comparison was valid?

Well, the aim of a hunter is to kill the animal with as little pain as possible--or it should be. That's the ethic that you get in sport hunting, at least. I'm not condoning or supporting sport hunting but there is a distinction in that the good hunter will shoot the animal in a vital place where it will drop dead immediately. It won't suffer. It seems pretty clear that the dogs that didn't fight well that Michael Vick and his associates killed were not killed instantly at all. They were drowned, for example. Drowning is obviously a much more distressing death than being shot with a bullet through the brain or in the heart.

It does make a difference that Vick and others who engage in this activity aren't just killing dogs. They starving and torturing animals to the point that they are ready to rip each other to shreds, then killing the losers by electrocution and other inhumane means.

Simon, you might get farther if you drop your fucking insistence on calling people names, ok?

And many of us saw nothing in your writing that was referring to the court of public opinion, which is entirely different from the legal aspect.

This is what JDV & Rok think about Vick & the media coverage:

I think that is a fair read and takes into account the various cultures around the world.

    Ha ha,

All I can say is I love it. In the end, always get what I want - you guys work for me & don't even realize how.

This isn't going to be a one-way street haters sorry - unlimited shots on JDV and JDV is harassed for all normal posting. Don't think so.

Someone else thought they could do that. I think someone made a crushing funny video about that that was a HUGE hit on the PM's. That was a friendly love tap. But oh, the possibilities and humiliation are endless. Ha ha. The Q always is is it worth my time & the universal answer is typically no.

Anyway, I am busy so I'm out. This was amusing.

Love to my SJ bros and the Villa Army!
