Jim Trotter out at SI?

It's been written countless times here, usually by copy editors who had to clean up messes made by writers who are now at national sites...

 

As well as being a natural writer, Trotter is fundamentally sound in
his approach. A rare combination of smarts and athleticism with each
paragraph.

 

Also among the layoffs: Baseball writer Joe Lemire, according to his Twitter.

 

Was Lars Anderson let go too?

 

Says on his Twitter he volunteered to take a buyout.

I'm not saying it's proper, but this is what happens when you end up at a league-owned media outlet.

You are at their mercy.

The guy has a great track record over a couple decades, but I'm guessing he doesn't want a job in this business anymore — he just (perhaps very rightfully) torched a big bridge.

 

He recently became a columnist at The Athletic.

Interesting how he’s moved around a bit since leaving SI. ESPN, NFLN, The Athletic.

 

I know we've discussed Trotter's career in different threads, but this is the only one I can find with his name on it.

 

Interesting how? Michael Silver left SI and went to Yahoo, NFLN and is now doing work for both Bally Sports and the San Francisco Chronicle.
It wasn't like Jim Trotter has gone to three or four jobs in five years, like another board favorite from long ago who took one job and before getting to that job did a 270 to take another offer.
