    The crawl on CNN read "Jimmy Carter, first former president to reach triple digits." What an odd way to say that he turned 100.

    I’m going to guess Trump wasn’t asked.

    GF and I went to the 100th birthday gala in Atlanta a couple of weeks ago. I went because the Drive-By Truckers played; she went because Jimmy Carter was one of her childhood heroes. It was a really good show. My main takeaway was this: Carter did some of his life’s best work after he left office. He left office at 56, the same age I am now. I’d love to accomplish 1 percent of what he accomplished in his second half.
