NBA scouts always questioned Redick's driving ability. Maybe he was just trying to prove them wrong? ;)

That's the way it is here, too. At least it is in some parts of the state. Maybe Freelance can back me up on this.

I know my old paper publishes dates and times of the roadblocks whenever there will be one in the county. My hometown paper, which is a small weekly, doesn't. And our town is targeted just about every weekend during the summer because we border a wet county (we're dry and the county I used to work in is moist). I've encountered several roadblocks coming into downtown where there is nowhere to turn off late at night when coming home. Usually the KSP runs the point with our city cops being the chasers.

I was away all day and I must say I was taken aback by the thread title.

Sadly, Huggy, my days of carousing at the Harbour Inn are long past. These days I confine my drinking mainly to residential areas and, on occasion, the local Royal Canadian Legion branch. :)

Got stopped at a license checkpoint once on the way to a wedding in the South. We had beers in the cupholders, the rental car had no tags and my license came from a state not exactly favored in certain redneck areas.

We quick threw the beers under the seat, and since I smoked then (in retrospect, now the only time I was glad I smoked) I left the butt in my mouth when talking to the trooper. I figure the smoke would obscure the fact that I'd had a few. Either that worked, or the fact that they didn't want to have two guys in tuxes in the county lockup paid off. I try not to do stupid stuff anymore.

Just thought I'd share. Anyway, here they put out releases when and where the checkpoints are to be set up. Always a good reason to check those on a Thursday afternoon.

  5. A point that should be made: JJ Reddick was getting drunk on a MONDAY. How much of a boozehound is he?

Hey, I get drunk on Mondays. My excuse . . . it's my day off.

Everybody else who's out that night is usually a hardcore drinker or part of a bachelor/bachelorette party.

    Mmmmm .... wine. :D

  8. Which begs the question ... who the hell is holding a bachelor/bachelorette party on a Monday?

Are you saying that JJ Reddick was attending a bachelorette party? Perhaps his own?

Dude, it's $5 instead of $10 to get into the local strip club on Monday night, hence lots of parties that night.

And perhaps he was. I can't speak to Mr. Redick's personal life. :D

One question: why in the hell would Redick attend a bachelorette party?

You don't have to be drunk to test over the limit. If I have three beers with dinner tonight, legally I shouldn't be driving.

I'm not a Redick fan, but there have been too many nights (back in my 20s) when I was lucky as hell not to get caught to take any pleasure from the fact that he did.

I believe someone might have been making a comment on Mr. Redick's manliness. I could be wrong.
