I think my favorite one of these blowups was between Wallace Matthews and Mets catcher Todd Pratt during the 2000 World Series. Pratt actually looked scared.

Wallace was safe in the knowledge that if Pratt tried to throw a punch, it would likely sail over his head.

The gold standard of blow ups are a tie between Will McDonough and Raymond Claiborne and Steve Serby and Richard Todd.

Didn't Jason Cole get mugged by a Dolphin once?

CC Sabathia allowed four runs today against the Rays. If you're Sherman, you have to open Girardi's press conference by asking about his health, right?

I've always thought of Joel as a smart ass who happened to be in the right place at the right time. Definitely not one of the best reporters or writers in the business, but he's been around for while so whatever he does, must be working so I give him credit for longevity.
As for standing up to Girardi, good for him. Joel was trying to do a job and Girardi was trying to intimidate. We, as journalists, aren't paid enough to take the abuse that is heaved upon us.
