    There would be no real reason to kick Joe Lieberman out of the caucus or strip him of his chairmanship. He has disagreed with the Dems on Iraq, but he still votes with them a lot - he might vote with the Democrats more than Nebraska senator Ben Nelson.

    Other than spite, what would be gained by this?

    Way back in the 19th century, Henry Clay ran for president five times. He never was elected, and even missed getting his party's nomination a couple of times.

    Also, William Jennings Bryan lost in 1896, 1900 and 1908.
