Be careful about accusing somebody of being a "mouthpiece" for the administration he covers. That's a pretty serious charge. You had better know that's the case.

I guess it depends on how you look at it. In this case, it appears that if Texas wanted something out there, a highly ranked UT guy gave the information to Chip Brown (and I'm guessing with the AD and President's blessing since the information never stopped coming).

That's great for Chip, and he shouldn't have to apologize for it.

If "mouthpiece" is the wrong word, fine. Pick another one.

If they are showing a tape-delayed event --- say, a tennis match --- they will carefully exclude that match from their rolling results list.

In other words, they deliberately fail to report news because doing so would not be in their best interests.

    68% believe he's the mouthpiece.
32% believe he's the jock strap.

When the WSOP happens, and it's not aired for several hours afterward, the story went up immediately on the Web site, with a non-spoiler link, so you could read it if you wanted to, or not. But they didn't not post the results just because it hadn't aired yet.

Sch(bbb)ad/ESPN also deserve a round of applause for USC, which they said over and over would come down on Friday, practically counting down the seconds, only to be off by a week.

It wasn't Sschad that missed the USC story. It was a source reported by Dana O'Neil.

I don't know Schadd, well from...
But, I can lend some knowledge to the wayward debate. Something other than conjecture and fingerpointing.
On Sunday afternoon, The Rose Bowl Commission was told "by a ranking Pac-10 official" to prepare statements and literature about Texas and its history in the Rose Bowl. That Texas had accepted an invitation to join the Pac-10.
Where it broke down after that, I don't know. But, it is very clear, Schadd wasn't the only one mistaken.

Hey Fish, you spelled it different ways in back to back posts. Neither right!
    It's Schad.

Told you I didn't know him.
    That's awful.

Is it a coincidence that Jason Whitlock spent the day this thread started bashing Schad on Twitter?

We'll forgive you. So will he, I suspect.
Hell, after his week he may prefer the incorrect spellings.

Don't worry, Joe has plenty of ego to withstand the criticism.

I don't get the assertion that he has "broken stories all over the place" in the past at ESPN. Like, the Minnesota coach signing a contract extension?
