People never fail to astonish me....how is this an issue? And as Ace said, I can't imagine people are passionately declaring Thomas needs to be there. Where is common sense? Perspective?

It's called mental retardation. People think that athletes don't have lives or issues. They do.

I am just surprised that people put on this 24-hour NyQuil for your eyes. Who gives a shit if he's there?

Good points, but man, that 1976 defense was awesome. If not the best team, that was the best version of the Steel Curtain.

People worship the NFL blindly and genuinely believe this is an important event.

I know people who take the day off work for it. I wish I was making that up.

They were the most dominant defense I've ever watched. Went into championship game without Rocky Bleir or Franco Harris which hurt big time.

I'd say 1978 was the best team, 1976 was the best defense. By the last two Super Bowls, Greene and Greenwood were slowing down a bit and the NFL had changed the rules to open up the passing game and to keep Mel Blount from being too dominant (so the legend goes).

D - line was better in 1976 because of Ernie Holmes. They could not double on Joe Greene. Then Holmes lost his mind.

I wonder if the NFL will want this kid to be at the draft when he's 45, 10 years removed from the league, and nursing knees and a back that look like a Picasso painting.

Wait, no, I don't wonder that at all.

    Go screw, NFL.

Good point. I forgot that was when Fats lost it. I think it was a combination of Holmes being gone, the other guys slowing down a bit and the rule change.

I feel the same way about soccer, but don't feel the need to post it on the soccer thread.

This thread is discussing the merits of whether a kid should or should not show up. We are not discussing the draft itself.
