What will any of them bring over the long haul?

I watched an hour of day two. It's pleasant but c'mon now.

ESPN has painted itself into a corner in this sense: None of the three have fundamental disagreements. They're all going to look at the world through more or less the same lens. No one is anyone's foil. And in sports...you need that. People argue and disagree.

 

They are all kind of "proven commodities" and you know what you're going to get. Would have been good to throw in an ingredient/personality that might bring something new to the table. A comedian, a personality - maybe have someone new in every week to mix it up.

 

He doesn't have to bring anything beyond basketball. ESPN radio discusses the NFL, the NBA and a bit of college football. That's it. But because the NBA season never ends-- free agency occupies a decent chunk of the nominal offseason-- he can opine on NBA stuff almost all year.

 

There is more interest in football than in the NBA. I would think you would want an ex-football player as the resident jock.

I also agree that Beadle and Greenburg are both technically competent, vanilla personalities. I do think they need to get some edgier personalities on set to create some more sparks.

 

Maybe it is just me I don't think she is consistently provocative enough to carry a show like this.

 

No, she’s not edgy. Her next provocative thought will be her first. Standard, blah liberal

 

The producer - Bill Wolff - has had stints on the MSNBC Tucker carlson show, the Maddow Show, The View and Around the Horn for ESPN. So I guess people will stay in their chairs most of the time.

 

She’s very good. What don’t you like?

 

Not much actually. I’m pretty neutral.
