I thought the house was donated to them, along with a lot of other shit.

I thought that article linked earlier indicated they bought it. Regardless, it's a very nice property sitting on a good chunk of land.

EXCLUSIVE: Jon & Kate Dad's Three-Month Affair Confirmed
    Tuesday May 5, 2009

In the new issue of Us Weekly (on newsstands Wednesday), five people close to the situation - including two relatives of the other woman - confirm that Jon & Kate Plus 8 dad Jon Gosselin, 32, has been having an affair with third grade school teacher Deanna Hummel.

The most explosive blow-by-blow details are revealed by Deanna's older brother - and roommate - Jason, who tells Us Weekly that he is speaking out now to set the record straight and to protect his naive sister...

"A lot of the time, it was pretty, um, gross listening to her, you know, um — how do I say this? The walls are thin. Let’s just say that. I mean, no one wants to hear his sister having sex, let alone with a married dude who's, like, almost twice her age and who has eight kids and a maybe-crazy wife. Ick. Nast."

Almost twice her age? The teacher is a teenager?

We talk about the Gosselins' taking advantage of a gravy train, and wondering about their motives?

Hey, at least they've got eight kids -- and an unusual, kind of made-for-TV story, with twins and sextuplets in one family.

I think we can all understand that the parents realized they would need help, financially, to survive, and that they simply capitalized on a golden opportunity that was presented to them.

In short, they were being smart, and, as Kate has mentioned, they have now also been afforded an amazing, ongoing set of the best kind of "home movies" and recorded memories that any family could ever have. Whatever the outcome of this situation, that could be a treasured bonus to the family one day, as long as the series is stopped soon, before the kids get much older. (Let's face it, how much do people really remember from before they're 5 years old, if they've lived a pretty ordinary, every-day life?)

But, you really have to wonder about this teacher's brother, and how much he must have been paid, for that information, and to say that stuff.

Faced with this situation, with this young, already-in-the-public-eye family, with a lot of damage to be done to many innocent people, you could not get me to say that kind of stuff, on the record, for any price.

Yeah, I'd say he wants in on the story, and on a piece of the Gosselins' action, and their fortune.

Them, or his sister, be damned.

    "Ick. Nast."
    Really?
That alone casts a long shadow of doubt on the whole thing.
I admit to not watching every second of Jon and Kate, but don't cameras pretty much follow them around all the time? So wouldn't it be hard to slip off and maintain a months long affair and it not be noticed by any of the production crew or the paparazzi who now follow them around?
A one-time fling seems much more possible, but to have a long-running affair just seems not at all possible.

You may be right, Jay. I hope so.

Coming from Us magazine, I kind of questioned the whole thing a little bit, too. Regardless, I'd think this is a situation you'd want to stay out of, and do your level-best to do so.

I don't believe the cameras are there 24/7 during filming sessions, and they aren't filming year-round.
