I got the impression Jon's "weekend off" really meant "Jon doesn't want to be on camera while planning this faux birthday party."

That could be. He's still a douche.

So who was he banging on the side anyway, one of the show's crew or a nanny or something?

Right. You deserve an entire week off every now and then. Especially when you have tons of free help at home.

My parents used to pack us up and send us off to various grandmas' and friends' houses on the weekend every now and then and there'd be weekends when those friends would spend Friday and Saturday nights with us. I think taking a weekend break from small children is fairly normal.

I knew a couple who would send their kids to grandmas 2 hours away for a WEEK so they could be alone. And they only had two girls.

And Jon's only absent to get away from Kate, not the kids,so Kate could whine how she was doing it "all by myself!!" (minus all the help she had off camera).

Listen, I'm not saying parents don't deserve a weekend off every now and then. Hell, even a week in some cases. I'm not that stupid.

I just don't like the way this whole thing played out on the show. Maybe I just got sucked it to whatever it is they wanted me to believe. Maybe not.

Doesn't change my feelings toward the both of them. I hope they're both broke and homeless in 15 years and their kids want nothing to do with them.

We have a 2-year-old. After I went away for a conference for four days last month, I made sure Mrs. Beanpole got time to herself when I got back, because she needed a break. She does the same for me when she goes out of town.

My only point in this is that Kate admits she leaves home all the time. So Jon deserves a break too, and it serves her right that he took it when the cameras are rolling because he's fed up with the whole production.

Won't be surprised in the least if Ryan's prediction comes true.

I have a feeling they won't be financially broke in 15 years. But, they might be emotionally and morally bankrupt if that's any consolation.

I'm guessing Jon isn't long for the spotlight much more. And Kate can't get enough of it. I also surmise that Kate gets really, really troubled by negative views of others about her, including her public persona. And with her well on her way to being America's leading villainess, that could lead to some interesting things transpiring.

    Just watching this now.

Most telling moment to me was when they were taking the "family photo" and as soon as the guy hit the shutter, Cara was up and out. Didn't look at her mom once.

Don't tell me these kids don't know. Course, she's one of the older twins, but still. The emotional scars.

    Agreed.

I thought Kate really showed her colors by admitting she used to hate the show's fans. But, now, she appreciates them (likely because they lined up to buy her book). My gosh, hating the people that paid for your $1m plus estate? And allow your kids to get free clothes from the top children's clothes companies? And help get you free trips to Hawaii, Disneyland, skiing and wherever else you want to go?
