Just calling this as I see it LTL. Incognito needs his ass kicked. I'm not saying I would've whipped his ass but I damn sure can guarantee you that he would've had a helluva fight. I admire what Martin did. It took guts. It's a damn shame his fucking punk ass teammates didn't stand up for him.

This is an excellent point... This isn't two schoolkids fighting for respect. These are professional athletes and when they fight without the pads on, it's not pretty.

I don't think Martin handled things perfectly, based on what's been written. I don't think he should have given Incognito $15K for any reason, but I also don't think getting into a fistfight with him would have been the way to handle it either.

Martin should be praised for walking away and letting the Dolphins sit amid the fetid steam of Incognito's behavior. Speaking of Martin, Bart Scott told Stephen A. Smith and Ryan Ruocco on ESPN New York, "Thank God he walked away. They've got to be thankful he didn't bring a gun to work."

It's soul-crushing to see how many situations in football cause people to break out the "wussification of America" card, as if being swindled and harassed and threatened is just part of the NFL workplace, the price you pay for having a job that too many American males look upon as the pinnacle of human achievement. If you can't hack having your mother threatened and your race demeaned and your well being threatened, you know, move aside for someone who can.

Incognito has spoken about being bullied as a kid, and bullies tend to be people who were bullied, the same way many sexual abusers were once abused themselves. And to guys like Incognito, guys like Martin can be seen as a threat. They don't dive headlong into the culture, and they give off a vibe of being able to get along just fine without it. This isn't an unusual trait among many oversized NFL offensive linemen. Often they're the most introspective and intelligent members of a team, and in many cases they're playing because their bodies have always dictated they play. Where else can an enormous, overweight young man profit enormously from that type of body?

To a fighter and scrapper and do-anything-to-stay-in-the-league guy like Incognito, that can be intimidating.

It seems to make total sense to me, honestly. Dickheads and nice guys have always clashed. In the ol' college fraternity house, one of my best friends, to this day, got bullied mercilessly by another guy who is also one of my best friends, to this day. He wasn't even close to gay and the list of incidents, if rattled off, would sound like nothing that should make someone that upset. But they did. Because dickheads know how to push nice guys' buttons.

The only reason I thought Martin might be gay was because of the way it was being reported early on where the reporters were making pithy comments like... "There's a lot more to this story..." and stuff like that, that I don't think they would be doing if this was all about threats and hazing.

If he is gay and it comes out as the reason for all this there will be a PR shitstorm of epic proportions on the Dolphins and the NFL (Hail to the Redskins!) for allowing it.

Maybe it's true. Maybe it's not. But I also don't think it matters. Incognito is a douchebag. Always was. And there's no excuse for his behavior being tolerated by teammates.

Based on the Twitter stuff and other comments, I don't think he singled Martin out for being gay. If that were the case I think a douchebag like Incognito - or even the Dolphins - would have left that cat out the bag already.
If Martin is gay Incognito knew he would have made jokes galore.

I don't know how I feel about how Martin handled things. If we're taking everything at face value, you hate to see someone quit on his team. That might change if there is more to the story...

As far as fighting, I think Martin did the right thing.
I hope he told the team or someone in the office (Drip's HR folks) about his treatment, aside from that walking away was the thing to do.
But fighting? I think Incognito would have whipped his ass. Martin is kind of average size, with small legs. Incognito looks like country strong - top to bottom. And he's dirty.
