It was almost as if the Wells report went out of its way to exonerate Philbin of any blame and my immediate response is, "What kind of a HC, especially one who used to coach the O-line could be this out of touch with what is going on around him."

    Just a little disrespect.

The whole idea of the Wells report is a farce. The NFL paid the man's high hourly rate and got what it wanted, an official-sounding "document" that does nothing and serves no purpose other than making people feel good that the NFL responded. There is no process to such league matters, other than the process the league decides on, and whatever the report concludes is worthless.

Yeah, it was a strange way of doing things. I know because of the NFLPA agreement, Incognito can't be suspended again unless they get creative about it, but I kind of expected the "investigation" to resemble what the NFL did with the Saints bounty scandal a couple years ago... That definitely did not happen. That tells me the league has little if any plans to do anything about this. They just want to be able to say, "Well, we got the report..." and nothing official will happen as a result.

"Back to the lecture at hand" (Snoop Dog); heard over the weekend more than a handful ex-players, writers, etc. voice their opinion that "I'm not condoning Incognito's behavior, but I fault Martin for his response." That is the wrong response; it faults the victim who did nothing to deserve the initial treatment. IMHO, the message needs to be "I don't care who is doing this, where it happened, or why, its unacceptable." By focusing on the response, you send the message to everyone that you are diminishing the perpetrator's initial conduct.

Martin did handle this about as badly as one could, which I think goes back to his history of being bullied.

That doesn't mean Incognito isn't to blame here, but Martin was involved in some of the bullying of Player A and did try to befriend his tormentor. Maybe, he was just looking for any way for Incognito to ease up on him, but I think that made things worse because Incognito thought if he and Martin were "friends" that he was handling whatever was going on.

My biggest question about Martin is why didn't he go to Philbin? Maybe he saw his treatment from Turner as an indication of the kind of response he would get from the coaching staff... If that's the case, then I get it...

    Yep.

Martin handled it as badly as anyone could = he should have just shut up and took it

You can't be taught by private school rectors or your labor attorney mommy to stand up for yourself. It is motorized instinct.

    That's an ignorant comment.

    Thanks for your opinion, Whimpy.
You sound like you were bullied yourself.
