I could see this as a possibility. The first true post-Lewinsky girls were about college-aged 10 years ago. Since then girls have been watching Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian get famous for boning, and movies talk about the whole thing so casually and matter-of-factly. For some reason I have seen "Bad Teacher" and "Friends with Benefits" lately. My goodness, the mouths on Cameron Diaz and Mila Kunis. Definitely nothing you would have ever heard from Molly Ringwald.

I doubt my wife would endorse this as a research project, but it would make for good reading.

Sorry, just have to post this tweet from a kid named Alexander C. Kaufman, Editor-in-Chief of the Beacon Update, "Emerson College's only student-run newspaper."

He wrote this to John Cook, about our little thread here:

"What's it like to know that so many hypersensitive, anonymous hacks are THAT jealous of your >84,000 pageviews."

This is the future of our industry, ladies and gentlemen. Keep a lookout for Alexander C. Kaufman. He's going places.

    Good fucking night.

I would've until I found out his semen tasted like battery acid. I mean, citric acid, sure, but you've got to draw the line somewhere.

I edit stories that get more than 84K pageviews about 10 times a week.

Trust me, jealousy is not on the table here.

We are nearing, if we have not officially reached, echo-chamber depth on this thread.

It's all fun and good to make some legitimate rips at Gawker and its, ahem, writers(?), but reading this thread as a whole leaves me with the "of course we're right" groupthink vibe that Gawker is accused of. (I also contributed to this outcome and am not blameless.)

For those trying to fight the good fight, remember: Let's be careful out there.

But in this case, we ARE right. That "article" was beyond the pale. It was classless and horrible. Had they just ripped Chris for the piece, fine. Writing is subjective. Call him a misogynist, call him an asshole. I don't think he'd care.

Bringing his wife into it, like it was his passive-aggressive strike at her? That's wrong, no matter how you slice it.

Not really understanding the attack on the student editor of the Emerson College Beacon Update.

These Jones threads mirror the political threads in the groupthink sense.
