Of course, there are many here who show that amount of time spent posting on this board is no indicator of actual "success," relative as it may be depending on who is judging such things.

 

I've been neglect in reading the Caro series on LBJ. I did read his Robert Moses book - The Power Broker and loved it. I may have to start with this new book and work backwards.

Does Caro write about Johnson's problem with tight slacks in any of his works?

Hey Type, I'm always curious of the timing when you see a lot of stories about a person hit the grid at the same time. How does that happen? Does Caro's publisher have a PR firm pushing stories to coincide with the new book?

 

Not sure I get the question, Boom, if it's legitimate. We wrote the story because he has a new book coming out. No PR firm. Just dealt with Knopf, his publisher. I'm assuming NYT did the same thing. New Yorker ran an excerpt last week as well. These are important books. They're going to get attention. There will be more than one story about J.K. Rowling's new novel, I'm guessing.

 

Also, the word "bunghole" does not appear in the body of this book, at least as it relates to Johnson's ill-fitting pants. It might be in the notes.

 

Thx. No it's a legit question. I find it interesting to see the "behind the scenes" of how publishers and movie studios get the advance word out.

 

It was those goddamn slacks kept us in Vietnam.

 

Don't underestimate the power of ill fitting slacks. It was right during the Tonkin Gulf crisis that he gotten a bad batch of Hagar slacks that were cutting into his nuts.
