I don't really care enough to argue about it, but perhaps "nondescript" is apt because the building is a dull gray and lacks any visible marquee or signage. At least that I can see. I've never been there.

That does sound pretty cool. But, would it have killed them to put some shrimp on the buffet?

The Equitable building is marked, and it's not dull by any stretch of the word. I don't know the exact materials, but those buildings are all granite and limestone and very often the lobbies are swimming with marble and metal carved or molded with ornate details. What that building faces is that it's on a stretch of lower Broadway, where there are magnificent buildings everywhere you look. You can walk around there with your eyes straight ahead and never go into one of the really ornate lobbies and not realize how much craftsmanship and detail went into everything around you. If you took the building YF is talking about and put it in most cities, it would really stand out -- still today. Put it where it is, and it easily gets lost. I have been in the building right next door several times, and the detail on the facade and the lobby is beautiful. Trinity Church is diagonally across the street, and it takes away attention from everything around it. Walk a block toward the corner of Broadway and Wall Street and you have the BNY Mellon building -- a really underrated, art deco building that is magnificent inside. That whole area was built during a time -- late 1800s to 1930s or so -- when they didn't seem to skimp on materials or details.

The Equitable Building also benefits from being across from the Trinity graveyard, Zuccotti Park, and 140 Broadway, which has a large plaza in front of it. Because of this, you can see it from a distance, from several angles, and get a better sense of its size and it's architecture, than you can many large buildings in the narrow streets of lower Manhattan.

    This entire thread is disgusting.

Jones and his friends are extremely busy. Yet they chose to generously donate their time to give gravitas to this place. And this is how they were treated.

    Embarrassing.

    Oh. I get it now.

    This is satire. Funny stuff.

I hardly see any mirth in this, YankeeFan.

The levels of meta we're diving into, of late, are fascinating. We've got inverse trolling going on to bait people who generally do the needling, and it's getting harder and harder to tell if the inverse trolls are in on the joke, hoping someone will show their ass in response, or genuine in their responses, or playing a role just to watch the world burn. And some of SJ's sheriffs realize they're being baited and trolled, some don't, and some aren't yet sure, but can't resist either way. It's some True Detective-level intrigue. Time is a flat circle.

Jones was heartily defended on this thread.

It's now clear that you are mocking him and his "friends". And, that's fine. I like satire. But, you went too far to try and pretend this isn't what happened.

I don't even know what you're talking about.

The work Jones and his friends have done for young writers at this site has been amazeballs.

    Betting big money on that.

The layers of chocolate here lately are dark and deep.

Though in some circumstances I agree, please point us to this work again.

Further, I believe a prior question from a prior thread still stands.
