And better CCW laws would have prevented this shooting how?

They wouldn't have, nor at any point was there ever a claim that they would have.

You wanted an example of insufficient gun laws, not the universal solvent.

BTW, this is a decent example of a third prong of the pro-gun zealots' strategy: Wait for an example of how the current gun laws are insufficient, and then say: "Well, that wouldn't have stopped THIS!" Then go back to claiming that merely enforcing the current gun laws -- no matter how archaic -- would resolve EVERYTHING.

The battle some here are fighting has already been lost.

There will NEVER be any meaningful gun control legislation passed here. Ever. The other side has won.

Your dead children don't trump their Constitutional rights. So, live in fear for your family's lives, or get your own gun and hope and pray you never have to use it.

Those are your options here. Period.

    No reaction like an overreaction.

I'm sure a lot of people thought we would never, ever have a black president, either.

It's not really an overreaction. People's time would be much better spent trying to curb gun violence in other ways. Meaningful gun control is a non-starter. Maybe it should be. This is who we are. Has been from day 1.

    Not really.

On day 1 you could own a gun if you were in a militia. That's not the case today.
On day 1 the gun you owned could kill one of the two people walking toward you before you were disarmed. Now, shit, you could take out 10-15 walking towards you before you were disarmed.

It'll take something, someday, that dwarfs even Newtown.

God knows what that will be, but that's what it will take.

I know I'm going to regret this, but ... what?

No. On day 1 you could own a gun for any reason.

“The damage was already done and when someone gets to this point, there is nothing that can be said or done to change their sadness to happiness,” Mr. Flanagan writes in his suicide note. “It does not work that way. Meds? Nah. It’s too much...too much...too much!”

So, what meds had the killer been prescribed in the past, and for what condition?

If we have thrown up our hands on guns, let's stricly control and regulate ammunition.

Also, what's worse than the lack of any reasonable gun laws in most states are stupid laws (like in Florida) that practically encourage you to shoot someone who seems like they might be threatening.

If you could own a gun but a heap of trouble rained down on your for discharging it outside of hunting and target practice, maybe people would go back to other means of protection.
