Why? Is playing the "Nixon" card now the equivalent of playing the "Hitler" card? Once you use it, you've lost the debate?

I think it's clear that NPR didn't like that Juan appeared on FOX. They couldn't fathom how he could possibly get along with folks like Sean Hannity & Bill O'Reilly. And, I think that's either the reason or one of the biggest reasons why he got fired.

Liberals think we can/should negotiate with the Taliban, Ahmadinejad, and others, but they don't understand how you could talk to FOXNews.

    It's pathetic.

But, this should be fun now. NPR has laid down the law, and now every host and analyst will have to live by it. Maybe Nina Totenberg won't get fired for what she said 15 years ago, but every statement that is made by an NPR contributor will be analyzed now & I predict that NPR will soon be forced to fire someone else to show how fair and even handed they are.

    Yeah, that's hysterical.

Is it ok if Steve Centanni feels a little nervous sometimes, or would that be racist?

BTW, Boom, the charges against ACORN were ruled in court to be trumped up.
I'm sorry, but you don't grab two million dollars, than try to call yourself a martyr, with the backing of rich and powerful media types and politicians who will now attempt to shut down a media outlet that lacks the deep pockets of a Murdoch.
What Williams did was the equivalent of a guy abusing his wife in order to provoke her into kicking him out of the house so he could pursue extramarital affairs and blame his wife for it.

Yankee. I don't think he should have been fired. For a variety of reasons. I'm not saying his comparison of NPR and Nixon means he should have been fired or that he lost the debate. He can make very valid arguments about why he feels he was wronged or unjustly fired. But, yes, he loses some points when he makes a ridiculous comparison. Or do you think the comparison was spot-on? You don't think it was a tad over the top? I'm not sure what you're arguing with about it. I'm saying I think he should have kept his job. I'm saying he can present valid reasons NPR was wrong. And I'm saying his Nixon analogy was hilariously over-the-top and absurd. What are you disagreeing with?

Indeed ACORN is, thanks to trumped-up charges.

Some evidence of this would be nice. Any evidence. Maybe just a little evidence.

For a journalist to make an accusation like this with no evidence is crazy.

Juan's been branded a racist and crazy, but you think he set this all up? This was his plan?

Have you listened to any of Juan's interviews since he was fired? Juan is pissed. He's mad.

He not only didn't plan this, but in his last round of negotiations his role was redefined so that he could make appearances on FOX or write op-ed pieces without NPR giving him grief.

I think it's pretty clear that Juan was stunned & hurt by his firing.

Murdoch & Ailes may have responded out of loyalty to Juan and to embarrass NPR at the same time, but there's no evidence that it was pre-planned.

It's not like it's hard for Rupert to come up with an extra couple of million dollars.

And, FOX gets to have a high profile African-American liberal play a large role on its network.

Please name a prominent African-American male who appears regularly on NPR now.

How old are you? I was 3 when Nixon resigned.

While I get a "Hitler" comparison, a "Nixon" comparison means nothing to me. It doesn't resonate at all.

I think liberals have turned Nixon (and Reagan & Bush) into boogeymen. Nixon had an enemies list. So did Clinton. So does Obama. So did Reagan. So did Bush.

FOXNews is on the Obama enemies list & they're on the NPR enemies list. And Juan was friendly with FOXNews.

Wish we could get some of McVeigh's victims to talk about it. We can do this shit of evilfying a whole race or religion based on the action of the few all day.

Is evilfying a word that Sarah Palin coined? It sure sounds like one.

But Juan specifically said that we should not vilify all Muslims.

    Or Bill Ayers victims.

The list is long of white terrorists. We can do this all day.
