Johnny, Edgar, and Rick Derringer in one band was a whole lot of talent. Rick was in the McCoys, did the immortal "Hang on Sloopy", as well as "Rock n Roll Hoochie Koo" with Winter. Played with Steely Dan and Todd Rundgren. He's credited with discovering Cyndi Lauper and Wierd Al. I saw Johnny several times, always a great show.

I’m going to call this a half cover... they did rework it to make it more guitar heavy. Stay for the solo.

    Just a great fucking song.

The various Live from Darryl's House videos on Youtube are a gold mine of great performances. His house band is so solid that they drop in behind all sorts of different artists without missing a beat.

Billy Gibbons, CeeLo Green, The O Jays's, Smokey Robinson, all sorts of folks, often taking on songs that you seldom see done live. He also has people in that this old guy isn't familiar with, which is nice exposure to new stuff for me.

Here's one like that - I don't know Company of Thieves, but this is a nice take on a song that I've never seen done live.

"You've Got A Friend," JT's second hit, was of course a cover of a Carole King song, the answer to Taylor's own "Fire and Rain."
