The petitions weren't turned in until Jan. 15 and weren't turned over to the campaign for examination weeks after that. The law then grants them a 10-day window to challenge signatures. They applied for an extension and got one, then applied for another and were denied.

The Government Accountability Board has six members on it. Five were appointed by hard-left governor Jim Doyle whose record was so horrible that he couldn't run for re-election in 2010 and has since disappeared in shame. When Barrett ran against Walker in 2010 he completelhy distanced himself from Doyle, who was persona non grata at any Democrat events.

The act is wearing thin. A political hack posting on a sports journalism board to spread talking points is sad. And yes, if you're examining petitions without writing stories on them, you're a political hack.

    I doubt old_tony is a political reporter.

So the GAB is illegitimate because a majority of its members were appointed by the governor of the party you loathe? Ergo, the recall elections are illegitimate because the party you loathe is pushing them?

    OK. Got it.

Doyle no doubt was a liberal. But, unlike the current Gov., he wasn't evil.

Maybe he's not a reporter at all any more.

So Scooter paid a Chicago-based private detective firm $109,255 to review the petitions before the petitions were available for review.

    Impressive.
