    My only visit to Tim Horton's was on my honeymoon in '02 in Niagara Falls. I don't remember much about the donuts or coffee, but I do remember paying with a U.S. $20 bill and getting back like $22 Canadian, plus my food.

    We hit Tim Horton's on our way out of Edmonton. The breakfast food is about McDonald's quality ... it'll keep you going. I'm not a coffee drinker, so I had an orange juice and let my son try the "double-double." It was something hot on a bitterly cold morning.

    My question for SJ.canuckistan: What is up with all the Boston Pizza restaurants? Tried some in Vancouver a couple summers ago and it made Dominos taste good.

    Tim Horton's is Canadian for In and Out.

    Holy crap, I was about to post just about the same thing:

    Tim Horton's : Canada :: In N Out : California.

    I've eaten at In N Outs in 3 different states but never had Tim's, so no doubt I'll be on the lookout when I travel.

    The In-and-Out reference brings to mind the one notable thing about Timmy’s: They move people through that line fast. You can be waiting in a line out the door and have your double-double, like, 2 minutes later. It’s really quite impressive.

    Boston Pizza is fucking shit, the only decent thing they had to eat there was the Desperado Pizza and they took it off the menu. Shitty beer selection, but at least it's cold. But as a buddy in the restaurant bidness tells me, they know what lane they are in and have had success catering to the UFC crowd by showing the cards on TV and people who want to watch the Leafs or Canucks or Oilers or the Blue Jays while having a few beers and something to eat. While other chains jump around and constantly try and reinvent themselves to chase some other market Boston Pizza keeps on going. They advertise a ton and cater to families.

    In a lot of smaller places in Canada, BP is the big restaurant in town. Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving's father Jim owns Boston Pizza.

  12. There's a meme (looked and couldn't find it) says "Welcome to Canada," with a smaller sign on the right that reads and something like "Tim Horton's next exit. And every exit after."
    When we first go our 2 TH's I was excited. Best Sweet Iced Tea around. And the food's pretty solid. I still drive thru there occasionally.
