Ya know, I hadn't thought about that angle at all, but it's a darn good one. Wynn and Limehouse, both evil in their own ways.

I'm in the same boat. Every time I see Boyd and Ava all up on each other, all I see is Ava and Raylin together and it falls apart for me. Add on that Ava was married to a now deceased Crowder and it makes even more less sense.

I love this show, and I found the finale to be a good one. Not as good as the Mags Bennett season because this one took awhile to really get going. Too many, who is Drew Thompson shows, before the action really picked up.

When's the next season start? Can't wait.

To expand on my theory - Limehouse would be the more altruistic version of Wynn, I guess, since he's mostly concerned about protecting his people. Ultimately, with his season, he's given chances to sellout like Mags does, and it happened again in season four, and he doesn't if he thinks it'll hurt his people. To compare it to comic books, he is to Raylan what Magneto is to Professor Xavier - fundamentally, Magneto isn't really evil, he just has a different philosophy than the clear cut good guy. Limehouse is deeply isolationist, but he'll do some evil things to help further that goal.

Wynn, I guess, would be Mystique then. While not a literal shapeshifter, he has no qualms about changing horses or approaches in midrace. Despite being a pretty hardened criminal, he almost always acts rationally when it comes to his own safety and well-being. For example, he seems like one of the few characters, along with Boyd, who realizes that you don't really want to fuck with Raylan unless you absolutely have to.

The question I wonder about is if Justified goes beyond next season when contracts will have to be re-done. I lean to yes for a couple of reasons. Olyphant has a producer credit, they've already greased the skids for Art, and I actually think the show could survive without Boyd.

I despised Olyphant when I first started watching Deadwood, which became one of my favorite shows. But I love the guy now that he has starred in two of my all-time favorites.

Art, however, is perfectly written and cast, and just the right level of boss for Givens. I'd hate to see Raylin having to cope with a cliched tight-ass boss, either some macho man who never has pulled his weapon or even a ball-busting female supervisor.

    Gonna miss Arlo something fierce.

With the moderation of Raylan's behavior lately, I kind of thought they were setting him up to take over for Art at some point. Art hinted that he wanted to retire, and noted that Raylan was kind of the best of some poor options. I guess that goes out the window if Art is gunned down in a blaze of glory, but I think the "killed in his last year of work" thing is a bit too cliched for Justified.

Thanks for the reminder as I totally forgot about it. I'll catch the next re-run of the season 5 premiere which starts in 25 minutes. Even better an old episode of Louie follows it.

And his fake southern?everglade? accent has gotten bad.

I appreciated the Canadian connection - especially since they were played by actual Canadians so no accent issues. On the whole, though, it didn't draw me in the way this show usually does. It felt darker somehow and there definitely was not enough Art to satisfy me.
