Here's a call I got from a freshman mom yesterday.

School A has closed one high school and moved everyone into another building just constructed, meaning it has two turfed football fields.
School B, whose grass field has finally crapped out, is using it only for varsity games and sending the frosh and JV to School A for home games, for which it rents the field.

School A Mom calls, complaining that her team is being treated like the visitors in School B's home game at School A's field. "Well," I said, "You ARE the visitors."

"Oh, she said. "Then you don't agree with me." Click.

Keep in mind this is a 6,000 seat stadium, and if she wanted to sit on the home side, she could have.

I run photos and nothing else. I don't even run JV scores, because I don't want anything to do with them. When I worked at a bigger paper I once went an entire season counting the amount of JV game time I logged. I was at about five minutes over 15 games when a double JV overtime happened. Stupid refs.

I like how the "ill-at-ease editor" is going into Tommy Flanagan mode: "The negatives were, errrr.... spoiled!! Yeah, spoiled! That's the ticket!! Accidents will happen..."

Four fucking pages and not a word about the right way to cover John Villareal.

Shame on all who call yourselves journalists.
