    I just watched the first installment and really enjoyed it.
    I remember reading The Sun Also Rises and A Farewell to Arms for the first time and being blown away.

    Anyone can say what they want about Ken Burns, but he truly is a master at what he does.
    Jeff Daniels doing the Hemingway parts is gold.
    Peter Coyote is the gold standard for narrators.

    I'll need to re-read those, @Driftwood. It's been years, and I found them a slog when I read them. Perhaps time will give me a better appreciation of Papa's work.

    I've always preferred Steinbeck, East of Eden his best work that I've read three or four times. It has inspired a tattoo I'm going to get, same as the inscription inside my wedding ring.

    Episodes 2 and 3 were excellent.
    Between family history, alcoholism, and most likely CTE, Hemingway's tale never concluded any other way.
