So is this bollocks or dog's bollocks?

In innumerable movies of the late '20s/early '30s, "gay" was used interchangably with happy/joyful by many a female character.
From the mid-30's on, such usage gradually eroded.

    Naaawww.

Justagirl, I'll take a dime for every modern reference you can google that refers to gay as homosexual and you can have a dollar for every instance where the reference is to be happy. I'll end my recession before you end yours.

Oh wait, we were still counting the number of redneck racists in rural Kentucky....

And again, my darling Scribe, you fail to realize I NEVER MENTIONED THE WORD GAY.

If you would like to have your little tit-for-tat with Inky and/or GB Hack, have at it. But I am NOT in that conversation.

My god, it's like you see what you want to see.

OK, I'm going to try one last time.

Yes, there are racists in Kentucky. Plenty of them in some of the more outlying areas. But to state, flatly, that "many" Kentuckians, which does not equal 500 or even 10,000 in a state that size, would prefer the song still say "darkies" is flat-out wrong.

    Done.

So you're saying less than 500 say darkie in Kentucky?

    Wrong.

Darkie is such a popular word -- used by racists and Stephen Foster fans everywhere.
