Good call. Maurice Stokes was Charles Barkley, 30 years earlier.

Good call on Hubbs. A true tragedy. But, Hubbs never really showed signs of being a dynamic offensive player. Great glove though.

I'll go with Don Gullett. Or, Eric Davis from a true potential standpoint.

Horace Copeland was faster than Michael Irvin and had a lot of the same attributes. He should have been Irvin.

    Chris Washburn ... from wikipedia.com

Christopher Scott Washburn (born May 13, 1965 in Hickory, North Carolina) is an American former professional basketball player.

A 6'11" center, Washburn was selected by the Golden State Warriors with the 3rd overall pick of the 1986 NBA Draft. Washburn looked like the next Karl Malone, at least in physical appearance, but not in moral fiber and work ethic. Washburn would test positive for drugs three times in as many years and get banned from the league.

In Washburn's short NBA career, he played 72 games over two seasons with the Warriors and the Atlanta Hawks, averaging 3.1 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. He is widely considered to be one of the biggest busts in NBA draft history.

Washburn was last known to be in the mortgage business in Dallas.

There's also a link on that site to a good story USA Today did in 2002 about Washburn ...

Does Pat LaFontaine deserve a spot? I'm not sure how long he played before he got seriously injured.

In the recent quadriped history category: Barbaro.

Here's a twist: What if the Red Sox had not decided Clemens was washed up?

Drazen Petrovic, tragically cut down in a car accident just as he was hitting his NBA stride.

And what if Arvydas Sabonis had been able to play his whole career in the NBA instead of after his knees were shot?
