I'd bet there are thousands of people who are grateful that Teddy Dupay hasn't touched a basketball in a year.

Jim Bouton. Had a solid first couple of years until his arm got injured and he eventually had to become a knuckleballer. Not to mention a seminal author.

Saying Fred Lynn is a what-if is like saying the same of Frank Tanana.
Both had long, solid careers -- hardly a mark of a "what-if"

Don't forget Al Bundy's fall from grace...four touchdowns in one game to selling women's shoes.

I wouldn't put these two at the top of what-if's because of what they actually were able to accomplish, but what if Lou Gehrig hadn't gotten ALS, and what if Joe DiMaggio hadn't gone to fight in WWII?

    Be serious pelase.
You can't put two of the greatest players in history in the what-if? category.
That's like saying what if Mickey Mantle didn't drink.

But the "what if" question regarding drinking can be asked of Bo Belinsky.

Eric Davis could be on this list.

And I'll echo Marcus Dupree for the college football list.

If, as originally posed, this is the greatest what-if in BASEBALL history, it's got to be Herb Score.

Bo Jackson has been plenty covered on here, but one I guy I always wondered about was Steve Emtman. It's a shame his knees gave way time and time again. No one could block him in college.

Saw Hamilton play last week. He's playing for Hudson Valley in the New York-Penn League. Did a double-take when I saw the name - he was officially listed in the program as Joshua Hamilton. Seemed very strange to watch a 25-year-old No. 1 pick playing in that atmosphere - especially knowing where Beckett is now.
