Yeah, it was such a bad decision to move the Flames from Atlanta to Calgary. And the Rockies sure sucked after they became the New Jersey Devils.

Thanks for the reminder. I hadn't pulled the ponytail on my Karmanos voodoo doll in hours.

Bigger bitch? Carmelo or Nate Robinson?

Carmelo: Threw a sucker punch on the baseline and didn't stop backpedaling until he got to the other 3-point line.
Nate: 5-foot-2 guy trying to act like some kind of tough guy. Lucky he wasn't broken in half by J.R. Smith.

Eight of the teams you listed were the product of expansion, which Dye claimed the NHL had not done.

    Oh, he did.

Hey, how about those Minneapolis Lakers! How about those Chicago Stanleys!

Since DyePack seems to want to include the last 500 years in the argument, here's your list of relocated teams, according to wikipedia:

    NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION

    * 1951: Tri-Cities Hawks (The "Tri Cities" area is now generally referred to as "Quad Cities") moved to Milwaukee
    * 1955: Milwaukee Hawks moved to St. Louis.
    * 1957: Fort Wayne Pistons moved to Detroit
    * 1960: Minneapolis Lakers moved to Los Angeles.
    * 1962: Philadelphia Warriors moved to San Francisco.
    * 1963: Chicago Zephyrs became the Baltimore Bullets.
    * 1963: Syracuse Nationals became the Philadelphia 76ers.
    * 1968: St. Louis Hawks moved to Atlanta.
    * 1971: San Diego Rockets moved to Houston.
    * 1972: Cincinnati Royals moved to a new primary home in Kansas City and a secondary home in Omaha, carrying the name Kansas City-Omaha Kings. The team ceased Omaha operations in 1975.
    * 1973: Baltimore Bullets moved to Landover, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, D.C., and became Capital Bullets. Name changed to Washington Bullets in 1974. In 1997, they move to Washington proper, and become the Washington Wizards.
    * 1978: Buffalo Braves became the San Diego Clippers.
    * 1979: New Orleans Jazz moved to Salt Lake City.
    * 1984: San Diego Clippers moved to Los Angeles.
    * 1985: Kansas City Kings moved to Sacramento.
    * 2001: Vancouver Grizzlies moved to Memphis.
    * 2002: Charlotte Hornets moved to New Orleans. In 2005, forced out of New Orleans due to Hurricane Katrina, the team began operations out of Oklahoma City as the "New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets" until at least the 2006-2007 NBA season.

    NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE
    * 1976: The California Golden Seals, which played their home games in Oakland, moved to Cleveland and became Cleveland Barons. The Baron franchise was later absorbed into the Minnesota North Stars organization in 1978. This merger was dissolved in 1991 and the Baron franchise was resurrected as the San Jose Sharks.
    * 1976: Kansas City Scouts moved to Denver and became Colorado Rockies.
    * 1980: Atlanta Flames moved to Calgary.
    * 1982: Colorado Rockies moved to East Rutherford, New Jersey and became New Jersey Devils.
    * 1993: Minnesota North Stars became Dallas Stars.
    * 1995: Quebec Nordiques moved to Denver and became Colorado Avalanche.
    * 1996: Winnipeg Jets moved to Phoenix and became Phoenix Coyotes.
    * 1997: Hartford Whalers moved corporate offices to Raleigh, North Carolina and became Carolina Hurricanes. For two years they played home games in Greensboro while an arena was under construction in Raleigh.

If Carmelo has the balls to punch/slap someone, he should be enough of a man to take a punch/slap in return.

I agree with you, DyePack. I was watching a harmless boxing match earlier tonight when -- goodness gracious! -- some guy started throwing punches.

When, oh when, will someone step up and take all that nasty fighting out of boxing?

That's right. Cleveland and Minnesota amalgamated in the first place after the Barons' owners, George and Gordon Gund, also bought the North Stars. When they sold the Stars, they were given another team by the league and they put it in the Bay Area -- fitting, because that's where the Barons franchise had begun in the first place.

No NHL team has "folded" since the Brooklyn (nee New York) Americans in 1942, and they didn't go willingly. They were granted a leave of absence until the end of World War Two but when their owner, Hall of Fame defenceman Red Dutton, tried to revive them the league reneged on their agreement.

The same thing happened with the Montreal Maroons, who last played in 1938 but were technically in limbo until after the war. The franchise was moved to Philadelphia but the league also refused to let them back in. No reason, other than a pie split six ways rather than eight means bigger pieces for those who actually get to eat.

Nate Robinson deserves a penalty just as harsh as Melo's. He wasn't trying to be a peacemaker; he was trying to show how tough he was. The best part about the whole thing was Melo running away after he threw his weak punch. .... And I dont know how many stories I've read and TV features I've watched about how much that guy has matured. ... All that said, Isiah is right. Melo and Camby have no business being in a 20-point game with a minute to go.

Isiah's wrong. If he doesn't want another teams' stars running up the score in the final minute of games, play better basketball.
