And that's a bad thing? Who, pray tell, should take more shots than Kobe Bryant? I might not be an NBA coach, but if I have the best scorer in the game, I'm gonna want him to shoot the damn ball.

You said he doesn't pass. Clearly, he does -- more efficiently than all but 18 players in the league. And I'd argue that if he passed any more, he'd be doing his teammates a disservice, because they've got a better chance to win with him taking 20 shots per game than with him taking 15 and letting Kwame Brown, Andrew Bynum and Jordan Farmar get a few extra looks.

As someone who has known Kobe since his days at Lower Merion, I am more impressed with how he has matured on the court. He's become a teacher, an elder statesman if you will. This was a role many had envisioned for him but he had to learn how what it took to be a leader. I think he's he much more complete player.
As a person, he's improved a lot too. The Colorado incident opened his eyes to many things. He still has some work to do in that area, but I and others have seen the changes and applaude them.

I under stand Tom. Only two people know what happened in that room. Personally, I believe that there was consentual sex. The problem was that Kobe went for broke up the Hershey highway. The young lady didn't sign up for that tour and that's where "the rape" occurred. That's just my take.

 

boots - from what i understand, i think your take is on the money. i just have a problem with an arena full of fans standing and applauding when a cat enters "the house" after bustin' ass and flying in from rape court ... never quite got over that.

i think you know me well enough to know i'm anything but a mamby pamby bitch boy, but i can't even look at that guy without getting pissed. maybe it's because mrs. petty and i had a coupla heartbreakers instead of a coupla tomas jrs. hell, i don't know.

 

Like him or not, Kobe's the best player in the league, hands down. The Heat last year had all sorts of talented players besides D-Wade and Shaq, so it's not like D-Wade did it all himself. Plus, D-Wade gets more calls that Jordan did in his prime. Breath on him, and the refs give him two shots. That more than anything won the Heat's title last year.

LeBron, as talented as he is, coasts through games. He doesn't seem to have a hunger to win like Kobe or D-Wade or Melo for that matter do. Plus, LeBron and Wade don't play defense one lick.

Dirk is the only player who you could legitimately claim is better than Kobe right now. Defensively, he's become very solid. He's turned into a great rebounder. He's a great scorer from anywhere.
