21, are you suggesting that this whole thing might be a concoction of ESPN: The Marketing Department?

    Redundant.

He loves that show. He'll put up with a lot of shit from the network to keep doing PTI. (I don't think they can touch his radio gig at all -- they don't own the station.)

As to 21's point -- I heard the original comments and the apology, and that undoubtedly puts me in a very, very small minority. It's fair to say this would be barely a blip on the radar without ESPN's wild overreaction.

I think what set this off was a blogger hearing the comments and running with it, which called it to the network's (and Hannah Storm's) attention. I think there's a tendency to react to something like that as if it mean's everyone knows about it... when in fact, no one reads the blog and the only people who listen to the show are going to laugh it off.

Here's what's funny to me, as a regular listener: this is nothing compared to the way he has buried other people. A good chunk of Tony's schtick is to wildly overreact to stuff and start calling for heads on pikes. The Storm comments may not be in the top 10 worst things he said about people on that 2-hour show. Hell, it may not even be the worst thing he's said this month about the way Hannah Storm dresses. He shreds Hoda Kotb daily, he's been calling for a variety of meteorologists and government leaders to be fired, and his comments about Paul Farhi could probably be grounds for a restraining order.

Like he said in his apology, it's what he does. He apologizes now, he's apologized before, and he'll undoubtedly have to apologize again.

Meanwhile, ESPN gets to kill PTI for two weeks because it's close to unwatchable without Kornheiser and Wilbon together.

I'm not going to make any time for ESPN, or for his third-rate Borscht Belt humor (in any medium).

It's common sense not to assail a co-worker/colleague (in the loosest sense of the term here) in public. Pretty basic stuff.

The skirt is poorly chosen but not scandalous.

I'm re-listening to Tony's explanation and rant from Friday on his radio show. The shot he made on Berman was snarky as hell.

Hell, someone deserves a bonus for that line about Berman gaining the weight back, back, back.... that shit cracked me up.

And the suspension is silly, you wear a trashy attention-seeking outfit that no respected 47-year-old anchorwoman should wear on the air, prepare to be called on it. Kornheiser was just doing his job, giving a strong opinion where a strong opinion was warranted.

LJB, do you ever have a positive word to say about anybody?

I get the impression from your posts that you hate 90% of humanity and only come here to give bitter opinions about what douchebags and tools everybody else is. You seem like a smart guy, but goddamn are you ever negative.

And when do we decide that Kornheiser's "I'm a grouchy old complainer, but it's funny! It's my thing!" is no longer just his thing and no longer funny, but that he's just an asshole? The guy has skin thinner than shrimp shells, but he's always ripping everyone else. The Paul Fahri stuff far and away the greatest example of that.

NY Post has the details wrong.

Some of the quotes were said on a radio show, not on PTI.
