So it would be OK if she talked to cable access show at 1 a.m. on Black Friday, but not to her own network's flagship show during sweeps?

Sometimes I just don't get some people.

No, the 60 Minutes part makes sense, obviously. It just seems "promotional" for them to decide to do it during sweeps.

Maybe it's a coincidence, but even with the Times story, it looks like they're "promoting" the interview.

I just don't think her assault should be exploited for sweeps.

So, when should it air, YankeeFan? What time slot and day is appropriately not in the best interests of CBS and its news judgment?

I'm happy to be convinced that I'm off base here. She's earned the right to tell -- or not tell -- her story at the time & place of her choosing.

And, if this was the time & place, fine. I guess I'm just creeped out by the idea that CBS had her wait until sweeps.

What about the best interest of Lara Logan?

JD - you wrote 2 months like it was a long time.

As YF wrote it just seems exploitative on part of CBS.

Sorry, we were posting at the same time.

As I said in my last post, I think Logan has every right to tell her story and she should do it at the time & place of her choosing.

I don't think the best interests of CBS News should be a factor in when she tells her story of being sexually assaulted. That comes across to me as exploitative.

But, maybe this was just when she was ready. Maybe it has nothing to do with sweeps.

Certainly showing up in sweeps week makes her look less sympathetic.

And look, I believe Logan has shown bravery & courage before, during, and after her ordeal. I admire her and am not looking to criticize her.

And, if any criticism is warranted, I would direct it at CBS, not Logan.

I wouldn't even go that far. What happened to her happened to her. My opinion of her hasn't changed, and I imagine I might even admire her more after watching the interview.

I just don't see it as something that CBS ought to be promoting as a ratings bonanza during a sweeps period.

I'm including Logan's interests with that of CBS because I'd assume no one is forcing her to talk about it. I should have explicitly made mention her bests interests should be considered, but until I hear otherwise I'm assuming she was fine with it.

Television is neither an entertainment medium nor a news medium. It is an advertising medium. Always has been. Just more obvious now, as the internet undercuts viewership and the networks become more desperate.
