But you set your advertising rates for the year based upon your ratings in sweeps. That's why sweeps are important.

That is what I meant, although I see now how I neglected to explicitly mention the timing portion. However, let me also add that two months seems like A) traditionally the standard timeframe for this kind of interview, speaking in rough outlines because there's never really been a case like this; and B) the amount of time "60 Minutes" would spend working on an interview story. In addition, the Middle East remains a huge story with what's happening in Libya and Syria, a story that it may not be in two months.

I'm sure CBS executives feel very fortunate that this confluence of events puts the story squarely during sweeps. But I don't think they engineered it this way.

    I get that.

This may well be the case. It just seems very convenient. I hope that's what it is.

    A) Well, yeah, they are promoting the interview.

    B) If she was ready to talk anytime within the past month they would hold it for sweeps.

    C) She's a TV reporter. She gets how it works. If she's going to tell her story she's going to do it on her network's flagship news show and she's going to do it during sweeps. That would be her choice and it would be the network's choice. And she'll be the first person to check the overnight ratings to see how the piece did.

    Logan has three choices:

She can announce she's never going to talk about it and go back to work.

She can talk about it now and go back to work.

She can never go back to work.

If she says, "Yeah, well, I'll talk about it later, maybe, when I'm ready, if I'm ready ...", she won't be allowed to do anything other than keep answering "Are you ready to talk about it now?"

"She is currently in the hospital recovering," CBS said, without elaborating. "There will be no further comment from CBS News ... and her family respectfully request privacy at this time."

Glad to see she's back to work and ready to move on. Who cares if it's sweeps or not, it's her story, she can tell it whenever she wants, to whomever she wants.

Yeah. Funny how Boom keeps missing that.

Hey, here's an idea: How about you talk about no one other than your immediate family and counselors about your sexual assault?

Right. Because history teaches us secrecy and silence are best for a world regarding places and people for whom immoral abuse is a deeply rooted and widely acceptable part of the culture.

Not missing it at all. I just think that 2 months is not a long time to move from asking for privacy to an interview on 60 minutes during sweeps week.
