Upon further review, Columbo is being way too generous.

Miami's line is worse than the following:

"I lost my number. Can I have yours?"

"It was a dark and stromy evening..."

    and

the Notre Dame point spread today

The 'Canes biggest problem is the offensive line. They cannot pass block or run block. The 'Canes second biggest problem is the lack of game-breakers on offense.

It means they were fucking there before Coker was named head coach. If a head coach has to actually recruit a player for said player to count as "his" then no player on any roster "belongs" to the head coach because head coaches don't actively recruit. They close deals, that's it.

If there's a trustees meeting to bring in a new coach, Dwayne Johnson is assured of at least one vote.

I'm loving every minute of this. It was a program built by mercenary coaches such as Schnellenberger, Johnson, Erickson and Davis, who thugged it up and pretended not to notice the conduct of the vile criminals they brought in, with a fan base that is among the worst in college football (they support their team poorly, then scream the loudest when things go bad). Now they've got the worst of everything: thugs who can't play a lick, can't even hold their own in a post-game fight (see LSU, 2005 Peach Bowl) and have the gall to stomp on a team's logo before a game, then prove they don't have enough ass to cash that check when the game starts.

The 'Canes are dead. The U is dead. Go back to being good at college baseball.

  6. Premature. Butch Davis brought in quality talent to the program, as will Schiano if he takes the gig. Because the school is based in arguably one of the most fertile recruiting hotbeds in the country, it's only a matter of time before Miami gets back to being a top-5 program.

Coker is a great guy but he is the least likely person to become the face of a program that is a minor league franchise for the NFL and that includes the head coaches. Ever since Miami became The U, its coaches have gone on to the next level (USFL or NFL). I just don't see an NFL team introducing Larry as the guy who's going to take the franchise to the Super Bowl one day.

Coker is a good guy and a good coach, he's just not a guy for the U. There is a good chance he winds up like Frank Solich and coaches at a mid-major looking to make some noise. Hopefully, he won't be driven to drink like Solich.

OK, I'm a Coker guy, and for a long time, I've been more like Dooley on here than the others.

That said, first of all, he'll be lucky to be 10-3 or 9-4 based on the way this team has played in its first three games (well, two of them).

Second, it's not just that they're losing. It's the way they're losing. All this fake bravado, and then failing to show up between the sidelines -- whether it's lack of talent or lack of character, it's simply that: a lack.

Right or wrong from a life perspective, unless they run the table, or close, Coker won't be around next season. The fan base/alumni who support the program simply won't allow it.

This ain't Northwestern. To the people in South Florida, this program is either among the elite, or it's a failure. Like it or not, that's the way it is.

What about Pete Carroll coming to South Beach?

Yeah, I know he's a Cali guy, but if the Reggie Bush shit really starts to sink, anyone think he might wanna bail?

i'm a little embarassed to be a miami law student right now. i saw some football players in subway on campus at lunchtime the other day (the only subway on campus is located in the law school...undergrads can eat there as part of their meal plan) and i got annoyed because there were four or five offensive linemen in front of me and they all ordered four subs each. not sure if they were eating all four or buying for everyone else but it was annoying having to wait so damn long.

that's my two cents. oh yeah, and coker is in over his head.

one more thing -- i dare a yankees beat writer on here to ask a-rod (he's on the miami board of trustees) what he thinks about larry coker's job security.

Why would Pete want to leave the PAC 10 to go to the ACC, which is now probably the 2nd toughest conference in the country? Pete's in a situation now where he'll coast into the BCS every year, in the AC he'd have to work for it.
