Last Christmas for George Michael: RIP

Only metaphorically.

 

One of my fave things he did.....

 

He died in Eric Schmitt-Matzen's arms.

 

My mother, a 64-year-old woman who obviously recalls the AIDS crisis all too vividly, of course speculated immediately that Michael's death was AIDS-related. It was a reasonable, if politically correct in 2016, thought that a lot of people, I'm sure, had. (My mother has no filter.) My sister-in-law, a boisterous culture warrior of the left, took great and loud offense to this. Probably the most uncomfortable exchange of the Whitman holiday season.

 

Well it's not like it's just because he was gay. He was known to engage in some risky behavior.

I did love her in 90210, though.

 

A clever way to remind people both Boy George and Sarah Michelle Gellar are actually still alive.

 

And people say you can't OD on marijuana:

A rep for Michael couldn’t be immediately reached for comment on Monday after citing “heart failure” as his general cause of death on Sunday.

Michael, who’d growing increasingly reclusive in the past few years, had long struggled with marijuana abuse — at one point smoking 25 joints a day.
