Transformers 4 a few weeks back. OK, opening night. Fanboy alert. Godzilla last night. Godzilla wasn't too bad. Seemed kinda slow to get going, but I was OK with it. Great end scene.

    The Purge: Anarchy.

I'm impressed at the originality of the concept, which is why I was so disappointed in the first one. Felt rushed, nothing was developed. Bad movie, good idea.

The second one is great, though. Much more development, better acting, more thought. Really liked it. This one should have been the first one.

My thoughts (as stated previously) exactly. Thought this one was leaps and bounds better than the original.

As for Sex Tape, it would need three promotions to be terrible.

False. Peter Jackson is in more dire need of an editor than any director in history.

It's on my list, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

At least Tolkien kept The Hobbit at a slim and trim 300 pages. Jackson turned that material into 9 hours of digital effects.

I saw the first advertisement for the movie so long ago that when they started running them in earnest last week I thought it was for the DVD release.

Hey, they both have it in common that after initial success, they gave into going unnecessarily long. ;) I like the LotR movies more than the books, which are bloated and tough reads to me. I feel the opposite way about The Hobbit.

The Grand Budapest Hotel was so good. So much fun.

Saw a screening of the new Michael Douglas/Diane Keaton movie, And So It Goes today. It's a formulaic, predictable rom-com for senior citizens. It's Grumpy Old Men meets The Crying Game (sarcasm). Diane Keaton plays maybe her most annoying character ever.

  11. That's saying a lot. She annoys me in every film she's ever appeared.

Dude, she cries throughout the entire film. And she tries to sing, but it sounds awful.
