Absolutely! I'd recommend it, in fact.

Greg Kinnear has turned into a solid actor.

Transcendence on Amazon instant video last night. It wasn't terrible. I'd give it a thumb-sideways. Except for the nanotech angle it really didn't bring much new to the dangers-of-technology genre. Johnny Depp didn't exactly bathe himself in glory with it, but it wasn't as bad overall as The Tourist. Glad I didn't invest the time and money for a full-price ticket to see it in the theatre.

Any of you chuckleheads seen Snowpiercer yet?

Best movie of the summer. Just really well done and incredibly trippy and disturbing and I have a question about the final scene but I don't want to spoil, so if anyone has seen it, send me a PM.

Also, the movie came out last year in Korea and made a big pile of money. In the U.S. it has made around $3.5 million which is just crazy to me when you consider the cast, Captain America among others, and the director.

It was not what I expected. It was an hour and half of creators talking about creating furthering villains - and heroes.
Some it was really enlightening. I think it would very good for writers, esp. young writers. They raise a lot of great points and ideas with regard to fleshing out a character.

Saw Guardians of the Galaxy tonight. Really enjoyed it. Some strong characters, good action and some very funny moments. Not as good of a movie as Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but more fun.

Two scenes in the credits. One right after they role is silly, but very funny. Possibly my favorite of those types of scenes since Nick Fury told Tony Stark about the Avengers Initiative. The one at the end I mentioned above. Most of the crowd was quiet, but a few folks laughed out loud.

Watched When The Game Stands Tall - the movie about De La Salle High School's 151-game winning streak.
Let me just start off by saying that most professional journalists, especially those of us who have covered high school sports, will loathe how the reporters are depicted in the movie.
As for the movie's story, the pace is a bit spastic and hectic at the beginning, but once it settles down, we get a pretty solid and heartwarming football film. Probably won't win any awards, but not a terrible way to spend two hours.

I'd watch a movie about reporters costing kids scholarships.

Released on same day as DirectTV availability. Word is that the distributors were triplepissed the director refused to cut it to <2 hours, and punished him, accordingly.

Yeah, the last scene was for sure a: "WTF?", especially to the younger crowd I was in with. Waaay to many 80s references for 20-somethings. I enjoyed the movie, but it seemed so unlike any other Marvel movie with the amount of campiness.

No question that the tone is very different from the other Marvel movies. I think that is exactly how you have to play those characters. Quill is kind of a goofy Han Solo. Rocket is a talking raccoon. Groot is a walking tree that says three words over and over again. You can't have a movie with those types of characters take itself too seriously.

The Footloose references may be lost on many who see it, but it was very much in character. I also want to see it again just to search for Easter Eggs, especially in the scenes with the Collector.
