I don't think the Vulture was ever shot. One of the scene's in Osborne's hidden lab had Sinister Six gear, which may have included the Vulture's flight harness. That may be what you are thinking of.

The movie was even longer. Mary Jane was supposed to have a decent-sized role, but they cut her out entirely because they decided there was already too much going in with Peter and Gwen. Shailene Woodley played the part, but she has already said she won't be back for Amazing Spider-Man 3, so the role is going to be re-cast.

It really was a big disappointment. You could say it was two super villains with Electro and Green Goblin, though Harry's transformation was pretty damn late in the process. Giamatti was completely wasted as the Rhino. Seemed like they just took his character from Shoot 'Em Up and added a Russian accent. Bleh.

Then there was the "Itsy, Bitsy Spider" gag.

Just one more reason that it sucks that Sony can't work something out to let Marvel Studios use Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four. It won't happen, but as a fan of the characters, that sucks.

It wasn't a Marvel Universe film. Spider-man and X-Men are separate universes from the Avengers line of movies.

I don't think the casual movie fan makes that distinction. I go out of my way to call them Marvel Studios movies.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. I've never seen a movie that beared so little resemblance to its source material. I guess the movie was fine for what it was, but it most definitely was not an adaptation of the Thurber story. The film didn't even do enough to use an "inspired by the short story..." tag, let alone use its title.

Saw This is Where I Leave You last night with Mrs. OOP. I really enjoyed it. Some very funny moments. Sure, the movie goes for the over-the-top moment a lot, but I think it works. It also balances out heavy, sad moments and some touching ones.

What I really liked was how well they used the ensemble cast. Often in a case like this, it feels like they wasted some of actors by not giving them enough to do. Though Bateman is the focus, they give plenty of spotlight to the others.

Just watched Here Comes the Boom, starring Kevin James, on Netflix and I surprisingly enjoyed it a lot. Nothing earth shattering, not an award winner, but it never tries to be. It was fun, it had its funny moments and it kept me entertained for a couple hours. A feel good flick, great for families, etc.

'Kill your Darlings' fictionalized account of Lucien Carr and Allen Ginsberg at Columbia. The Kerouac and Burroughs characters are throw-aways. It's about Ginsberg, Carr and the killing of David Kammerer in Riverside Park.

I wanted to like it because the subject is fascinating and the real people involved are fascinating, but I didn't think it worked.
Some of the elements of the Carr character seemed to be fictionalized for sensation, and that is the kind of thing that bothers me.

"Equalizer" Friday night just for kicks with my neighbor buddy. Nice mood; Denzel moves like a vigilante; villans are pretty well done; a bit long.

The Good Lie is an uplifting, feel-good film with genuine sentiment. Inspired by actual events, it also doesn't have a lot of Hollywood cliches and definitely not a typical happy ending. We enjoyed it - laughed and cried a little.
