No commentary on the movie, but a funny story to share.
The wife and I were watching the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" on SyFy the other night. About 30 minutes in she has a brainfart and asks, "What state are they driving through again?"
We spent the rest of the movie calling it the "Nevada Chainsaw Massacre," the "Vermont Chainsaw Massacre," etc.

Has 'Gone Girl' been out long enough for me to make comments without being a spoiler?

I would suggest just add a spoiler tag and leave a dozen or so empty lines below it so that those of us who haven't seen it can skip past.

Alternately, there was a Gone Girl spoilers thread a while back and you could post there.

    "Draft Day."

It was way better than I thought it would be - entertaining at least. A few places made me groan because of the unrealistic expository dialogue.

"Who is the GM in Jacksonville again?"

Like the GM of the Browns wouldn't know that.

"What did the Giants get for the No. 1 pick two years ago?"

Like the GM wouldn't know that.

Also: "We're scouting that guy down in Purdue."

It's "at" Purdue. Purdue is not a place. It's IN West Lafayette.

What ever happened to Bridget Fonda's career?
Good-looking woman- should have been a bigger star.

  7. Point of No Return was awesome!
One of my favorite female action movies ever.

    She turned 40.

Bridget Fonda dropped off the map before she turned 40.

Anyway, I really liked 'Gone Girl.'
It was too long. It dragged at the end of the second act into the beginning to the third act.
But when I left the theater I had a hard time pinpointing exactly what I would cut.

    NPH was not good.
    Affleck was serviceable.
Pike was very good, and I really like Nora from 'The Leftovers.'

There were some things that didn't make sense to me, three in particular. One of them eventually had no bearing on anything, but the other two just didn't make sense and were very clear plot contrivances.

    Overall, enjoyable.

Fonda has not been in a film in 13 years.

  11. Geena Davis was 40 when she made the Long Kiss Goodnight ... another kick-ass female action flick.

Geena Davis is 6 feet tall and athletic. She's a little more believable as an action star.

Also, her husband directed that, which probably helped her get the part.
