The fact that they missed Harold Ramis in the Memorium tonight is brutal.

Agree word for word. Watched it Saturday night. I have a subwoofer in my home theater system and the drumbeat was overpowering at times. The movie had me hooked - I loved the acting, the cinematography and I thought it was a boldly made and ambitious film - but the end fell really flat for me. I guess I didn't "get it."

I thought the most interesting part was how well Keaton acted "badly" in the first rehearsal scene (before the guy got knocked on the head) and then elevated his acting opposite Norton. It was a nuanced performance by Keaton and I was surprised he didn't win the Oscar (though, admittedly, I haven't yet seen Theory of Everything).

Watched a documentary called "Medora" on Netflix.

Essentially, it's the real-life flip side of "Hoosiers" set 60 years later.

another flip side of Hoosiers is "Something to Cheer About " Something to Cheer About (2002) - IMDb
A documentary about the Indianapolis Crispus Attucks teams that lost to the 1954 Milan team which served as the basis of "Hoosiers."

It's probably because he was in last year's memorium. He died shortly before last year's ceremony. I distinctly remember Bill Murray saying something about him during last year's show.

"STCA" was pretty cool, but suffered from the lack of any substantial input from Oscar Robertson. It's kinda worth more than just a passing mention if the pretty-much-consensus greatest all-around player of all time (up to about 1980) was on your HS team.

Also, there seemed a kind of undercurrent of butthurt over all the attention given to Milan. Although I suppose that's pretty understandable.

"All Is Lost." (2013) A showcase for Robert Redford, who throws himself fully into the story of a man stranded alone at sea. Quite remarkably made.

It looks interesting, but you're literally the first person I've heard from who's seen it, so I didn't think it was any good. Maybe I'll check it out after all.

It got a good grade from AVClub. I remembered reading about it after I had watched Redford in "Winter Soldier" and decided to give in a whirl. My wife watched it last night and she also really enjoyed it.

"Captain EO." Seriously. It's playing at Disneyland Paris.

Somehow, what was a novelty in 1986 isn't so much anymore. As my friend, who'd escaped it thus far, said, "I can't unsee it!"
